Beginning Now

I am usually one to start things on a Monday, or the first day of the month, or a new year, etc.  It is part of my personality, recently described quite accurately by a young girl as "a little OCD."  But, this has been on my list for quite some time, and so I am actually behind schedule.  It was a Monday, the first of the month and a new year, quite some time ago and the time is now!  I thought that starting a blog would be a great way to remember things that are going on in our life right now as I have no time to scrapbook, much to my Mom's chagrin!

Things are going at a pace comparable to the speed of light and I am enjoying every minute of it, although my hair is a mess.  We have five healthy, active children and we are in that stage of our lives where everything is happening and pretty fast.  I don't want to miss a minute of it.  We are enjoying it so much and realize that it won't be this crazy busy forever.  So, someday I will scrapbook and decorate my home; right now I am going to squeeze every ounce of fun and craziness out of this time.  As my husband is so famous for stating, "You are very good at packing 10 pounds of 'stuff' in a 5 pound bag."  Although he usually doesn't say "stuff."  And I am very good at it, as he says.  True, true!

So I don't plan to have a specific rhyme or reason to these posts, just trying to put my thoughts down.  And even if I'm the only one who every reads them, good enough!

So, yesterday Wilson, one of my 8 year old twin boys, comes into the kitchen looking a little worried.  Last year he got a staph infection around his fingernails as he was biting his cuticles and they got infected.  And  I had recently reminded him to be careful not to bite his nails or his cuticles and to be on the lookout in case they became red as we wanted to prevent any infections.  So, Wilson says, "Oh no, I think I have infected testicles!!!!!"  And he is holding out his fingers to me, showing me his cuticles.  And I quickly, very quickly, informed him the difference between cuticles and testicles, after which he started giggling.  Later that day I thought I better make sure Ben, his twin bother, was straight on the terminology as well.  So, I asked Ben if he knew what cuticles and testicles were and he nodded, "They're chemicals, right??"  So, Ben got a little straightening out as well.  My boys will not be going to school saying their testicles are infected.  Both have been instructed to push their "testicles" back to avoid infection!
